Look back and celebrate your accomplishments

Are you also sometimes wondering, how fast the time seems to flow? You look at the calendar and realize that February is in full swing and you are not sure if you’ve accomplished any of the things you’ve set out to do in the beginning of the year. You may even have the feeling you haven’t done anything at all. But most of the time when you manage to slow down and look back, you find out you’ve done a lot more that you’ve thought.

That’s exactly what went through my head as I’ve sat down with my journal to review the steps I’ve done in my writing journey since the beginning of January. Suddenly the frustrated jumble of feelings telling me I haven’t done enough changed into a pleasant surprise.

Already in December I’ve enrolled in the Muse challenge writing community with monthly zoom lessons and weekly tasks to grow and polish the writing craft and boost up the inspiration. No matter which direction in life one chooses, there are always options to grow and learn more—and authors are no exception. I not only love writing, but also learning about the writing craft and with these classes and this community I have the feeling I can grow further as an author.

Inspired and motivated through the Muse challenge, I’ve divided my time between another round of revisions for the third book in the Mirror of Truth series and creating my author web-site. I’ve also implemented beta-reader feedback for the first two books in the series. And, as a fun project, I’ve started plotting a completely new story. It’s still in the conception phase, but you can look forward to the coming months as I’ll be revealing bits and pieces of the birth of a new novel along with the updates for the Mirror of Truth trilogy.

Slowing down and looking back can be quite eye-opening, especially if one has the tendency to move forward and forget what one has achieved, taking the accomplishments for granted. I’ve realized over and over again, how important it is to be aware of and celebrate each step on the way, no matter how small.
